What this covers

This policy covers the Vern marketing website at askvern.ai: the pages that describe the product, the pricing, the resources and the demo booking forms.

It does not cover the Vern application, the workspace you log in to and review contracts in. The application is a separate service on its own domain. None of the analytics or advertising tracking described on this page runs inside it. The only cookies the application sets are the ones needed to keep you signed in, which are described in our Privacy Policy.

In short

We use cookies on this website to understand how it is used and to tell whether our adverts work. Your contracts, and anything you do inside the Vern application, are never part of that.

What are cookies

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device when you visit them. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to site owners about how their website is being used.

Some of the storage mechanisms we use, such as localStorage, are not technically cookies, but they serve a similar purpose. We cover all of these in this policy for complete transparency.

Consent first

Every analytics and advertising cookie in this table is only set after you choose Accept on our cookie banner. Until you do, the only item stored is the record of whether you have been asked.

Essential storage

The item listed as essential in the table above is not a cookie in the traditional sense. It is stored in your browser localStorage, which means:

It is never sent to any server with your HTTP requests

It does not track you across websites or sessions

It is stored only on your device and is used solely to remember your choice

It contains no personal or identifiable information

vern-cookie-consent-v2 records whether you have accepted or declined analytics and advertising cookies so that we do not ask you again on every visit.

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors interact with the Vern website: which pages are read, where visitors arrive from and where they leave. This helps us improve the site and work out which content matters most.

Privacy safeguards we have implemented

Consent Mode v2 Analytics cookies are denied by default and are only activated after you explicitly consent via our cookie banner.

IP anonymisation Your IP address is anonymised before any data is stored.

Website only Analytics runs on askvern.ai only. It is not present in the Vern application and never sees contract content.

If you decline No Google Analytics cookies are set. Google receives only cookieless, aggregated pings that count the visit without identifying you.

Advertising cookies

We advertise Vern on Google, which includes YouTube, Discover and Gmail, and in ChatGPT. To tell whether those adverts work, and to show them to people who have already visited this website, we use two advertising tags on askvern.ai.

Google Ads Records when a visit came from a Google advert, records when a demo is booked so we can see which adverts lead to bookings, and builds an audience of website visitors that Google can show our adverts to again (remarketing).

OpenAI Records when a visit came from an advert shown in ChatGPT, and records when a demo is booked so OpenAI can report which adverts led to bookings.

What that means in practice

Denied by default Both tags start in a denied state. Google sets no advertising cookies and the OpenAI pixel is not loaded at all until you choose Accept.

What is shared That a page on askvern.ai was visited, which advert the visit came from, and whether a demo booking form was completed. No names, email addresses or form contents are sent to either provider by these tags.

Website only Neither tag runs inside the Vern application. Nothing you do with your contracts is ever used for advertising.

If you decline Google receives only cookieless, aggregated pings. OpenAI receives nothing.

Google and OpenAI each process this data under their own privacy policies: Google and OpenAI.

How to manage cookies

Cookie banner

When you first visit the Vern website, you will see a cookie consent banner. You can choose to accept or decline analytics and advertising cookies. Your choice is saved so you will not be asked again.

Changing your mind

If you previously accepted or declined cookies and wish to change your preference, you can clear vern-cookie-consent-v2 from localStorage in your browser:

Chrome DevTools (F12), Application tab, Local Storage, select the Vern site, delete the item.

Firefox DevTools (F12), Storage tab, Local Storage, select the Vern site, delete the item.

Safari Develop menu, Show Web Inspector, Storage tab, Local Storage, delete the item.

After clearing this item, the cookie banner will appear again on your next visit and you can make a new choice. If you had accepted, also clear the site's cookies so the Google and OpenAI cookies already set are removed. Or email us and we will walk you through it.

Browser-level controls

Most browsers allow you to manage cookies through their settings. You can block all cookies, delete existing cookies, or set preferences for specific websites. Refer to your browser help documentation for detailed instructions.

You can also control how Google personalises adverts to you, across every site, at myadcenter.google.com.

Third-party cookies

Google and OpenAI, described above, are the only third parties that set cookies on this website. Beyond those two, the Vern website does not use:

Social media tracking pixels, such as those from Meta, LinkedIn or X

Data brokers, or any sale or exchange of visitor data

Any form of fingerprinting technology

If we add a new provider, this page and the register above are updated before it goes live.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we make material changes, we will update the last updated date at the top of this page.
